Stonington High School students enrolled in the Child Development Program will take on a leadership role within the program. They will participate in providing activities, story telling, curriculum planning, one-on-one interactions, and designing displays throughout the classroom. Students will have the opportunity to intern at Teens to Tots to earn credits for Child Development III.
Philosophy
Our philosophy is based upon the active learning experience. We believe that by encouraging children to engage in play activities through which they learn, the children will develop self-help skills and be able to problem solve and make decisions that help them build their self-esteem and confidence. Guided by teachers, students, and volunteers, the children will be encouraged to explore, experiment, manipulate, and learn from their surroundings at their level and rate of speed. Through play, the children discover who they are by relating to other children, adults, and the environment.
Goals
Teens to Tots Preschool strives to meet the following goals for each child:

intellectual growth.

* To help each child learn to develop self-discipline and independence, and to
deal with his/her emotions in an appropriate manner.
* To provide a well-balanced schedule of activities and quiet times.
* To provide nutritious snacks that contribute to the growth and development
of a happy, healthy child.
